The good: Solid machine with great quality! Super compact and comes fully assembled minus sliding on the seat.I’m enjoying this machine and the customer service for replacement parts has been fantastic!I use this for 45min – 1 hour long zone 1-2 cardio sessions when I don’t feel like running and it’s been great for that! My wife out of nowhere has fallen in love with the machine. The resistance it provides is good for her as a beginner. It’s extremely satisfying to hear the water moving when you row but it’s very quiet and does not bother anyone even in the same room when you are on it. I can easily be on a zoom call for work while my wife is using it and it can’t be heard.
The bad: I’m active and a gym rat. The resistance on this machine even at the highest level is fairly light so advanced rowers should look for something else.The lower guide wheel on the seat broke within 2 weeks of use and now the seat does not move properly… otherwise the unit is nice but the seat wheels are not durable at all! Make sure before you fold the unit that the seat is at the end of the rower so it doesn’t slam the seat wheels into the stoppers that may cause premature damage. Taller rowers will likely hit the rear stoppers I’m 5’7” and get fairly close to them (30” inseam).
Update: 100 Spartans customer service responded to my email within 24 hrs and is sending replacements. I will be keeping the rower as it is a nice machine and these wheels are cheap and easy to replace even once out of warranty. The wheels arrived and I was able to swap them out easily within 5 min!

The hard part was unpacking the carefully packed rowing machine.We will notice that Parts #D & #E are not separately packed. There are actually 4 Ds and 4 Es. They are the seat stoppers on each end of the lower rail. Unpack the machine and set it on the floor fully extended. Take the back 2 seat stoppers parts #D & #E off the rail. Side the seat on. And then reinstall the stoppers. Then tell everyone how glad you are you didn’t buy a machine with a million parts.It would have been nice if the N rail was labeled with a decal. It would have been nice if the Back rail stoppers (D & E) would have been labeled with a decal. It would be nice if the water level was clearly labeled as to what each water level equals as far as resistance. For example. Easy, moderate, hard.I was struggling with unfolding the rowing machine. I contacted the company. They sent me a video.The seat needs to be all the way back to fold the rowing machine up. If it isn’t the seat will crash down to the back as the rail becomes vertical.I asked the company to send me a video on how to unfold it. It is simple once you see it. I hope they publish videos of both operations soon.

I waited to review this until after I had a chance to use it for a couple of months. I’m so happy with my purchase. It was so easy to set up by myself (I’m a 5’3 female over 50). It folds and unfolds with ease. When folded up it takes up very little space. The seat glides smoothly with each stroke. With water creating the resistance it’s easy to increase or decrease. A nice bonus is the swish sound the water makes with each stroke, makes it seem like your rowing on the water.

I had a magnetic rowing machine before this water rowing machine, I will tell you I like this one much better. First of all, it looks like a nice piece of furniture when compared to the magnetic rower. That one definitely looked like exercise equipment. I don’t have a dedicated exercise area, so this fits in with the rest of the room much better. The water rower is much quieter also. Just a slight “whoosh” when rowing. It does not disturb others like the magnetic machine did. The seat glides smoothly and quietly.This machine was extremely easy to put together. All I had to do was put the seat on. It is very easy to fold up with just one hand and is very compact. The magnetic rower took some effort and it wasn’t that much smaller when folded. I like that the fill plug is above the waterline when it is folded. I have a 34” inseam and I don’t hit the back rail when fully extended.I don’t like that there is not a lot of resistance. With a water rower, the resistance is determined by how fast you row and I just can’t seem to row fast enough to build much resistance. It is still a good workout for now, but as I use it, I can see that it may not be in the future. The other thing is that the foot pedals are narrow and my shoes get stuck in them. This rower is also very close to the ground, so it is a little difficult for me to get in and out of.
