Product is as described, actually for the first time with an online order, the product is better than expected. The sewing of the uniform and the kyokushin kanji are perfect. I didn’t follow the measurements as described and ordered a size up from their chart. In my experience that is what’s normally needed. Not with this seller. Follow the measurement chart they provide. The seller was quick to respond to my messages about the sizing issue and helpful resolving the issue. You can fully trust 100 Spartans for your martial arts gear needs. Best online shopping experience I have ever had.

Since I got back into martial arts training again, I needed a new uniform. I train in Kung Fu San Soo and wear a karate uniform simply because it takes the abuse from the training we do better than the thinner kung fu uniforms other kung fu schools wear. I also trained in Okinawan karate for a few years, so I know a bit about what a good karate gi should be.
I originally ordered this uniform in a larger size from an online martial arts store, as the sizing chart said I should wear a size 7. Unfortunately, when I arrived, I could visually tell that size 7 was way too big. So I returned it, but the store was going to take awhile to accept the return and then ship back to me, when I needed a new uniform A.S.A.P.. I stumbled on 100 spartans when I decided to search for alternatives on google and found out that they had the same uniform and in the size I needed, size 6 and I could get it a lot sooner.
So far, its been pretty good and held up well to the type of martial arts training that I do. It also makes a nice sound whenever I practice strikes or forms. It definitely has some heft to it and while its not a Judo/BJJ uniform, I feel like it can handle some throwing/grappling. My instructor and classmates think it is a pretty nice uniform as well and its just under $170, I think its a great deal for a heavyweight uniform.
My only complaint is that it does run a bit large. While I do like a roomy uniform, its still a bit large for me, even though I ran it through hot water and into the dryer a few times, so I usually have to roll my pants and sleeves up a few times so I don’t trip or let them touch the ground.
Overall its a great uniform that can handle hard training and look good at tournaments, but just be aware that it is a bit large even after shrinkage.

This gi is not made of pre-shrunk cotton like most other brands. Pure cotton (not a blend) can shrink by as much as 20% (google). Bought the suggested size based on the chart. Tried it on when it arrived, the gi was ridiculously huge, 1-2 sizes too big. Had doubts about how much this gi would shrink, decided to find out instead of returning. Washed in cool water, hung dry as suggested. Shrunk a little, still way too big. Washed again in warm, put in the dryer on high. The dryer makes the difference, jacket almost fit and pants needed more dryer time (I have short legs, long trunk). Washed again in warm, put in the dryer on high. Jacket fit to my liking and have hung up to dry from then on to avoid further shrinkage. Continued to dry pants on high to shrink them just a little more. Still a touch long, nothing requiring alterations. Back of the cuff just touches the floor and will probably fray over time. Pants usually wear out and need replacing before a jacket does.
Quality is excellent for the price paid. Material is heavy enough and stiff. Gi seems to wrinkle easily, as it is 100% cotton, even out of the dryer. Before buying, consider that ironing or other methods to remove wrinkles may be required as ongoing maintainence for this gi.

This is my 5th attempt to purchase a GI online. Why not shop local you ask? Well I tried, and they were all basically warehouses with no store fronts or fitting rooms. Of the ones I looked at the sizes were clearly off; jacket would fit, but pants would either be too small or too large.
Online, the sizing charts proved to be useless to me. I’m 5’10” 250lbs, I train in martial arts, along with cardio/mobility & power lifting. So I’m not that tall, but I am large. I currently wear a size 7 GI but it’s not fitting right anymore. I ordered a new GI through the school, size 7, wouldn’t go past my lower legs, size 8, nope, and then 10. With a 10 they fit me like 1970”s flair pants, tight at the thighs, wide at the bottom. Meanwhile, another gentleman around my height but 60lbs heavier has the same size 10 and it fits. What sort of sorcery is that!?!
So I started with online orders at size 10. Fit like tent. Then 8, still too big, then 7, too big, 6 too long, jacket was OK would have been fine after 1 or 2 wash cycles but the pants were like 2′ extra long. Anyway 5 seems to be the one for now, still a bit large, but a wash cycle should fix that. Will find out as I wash and line-dry it over time.
Why is there such a disparity between GI sizes across brands as well as within the same brand? I’d expect a little, but this is absurd.
Anyway, as for the GI I have on hand:
– Feels really good in the hands, nice and weighty but not rough.
– The seams are nice too, good heft to them, feels solid.
– I like the belt ties on the pants
– Overall the whole thing feels sturdy yet malleable, I don’t feel restricted and I all I’ve done is tried it on.
Looking forward to washing, applying patches, and then using it.

I’ve purchased many karate gi’s over the years and this is one of the best value heavyweight gi’s available. I decided to try this one instead of the black version.
I’m 6’1″, 200lbs – average build, and typically purchase a size 6. I read the reviews, and decided to purchase a size 5 and it fits well.
The cut is traditional. Material is very comfortable and thick. The drawstrings for the pants are solid.
Some minor cons: the material will leave pretty heavy creases if folded for a period of time (especially if damp). The strings for the jackets are quite thick (wish they were a bit thinner and easier to tuck away).
Even with the minor cons, this product is a solid 5 star product due to the quality and performance.
