Worth it. Start your rowing journey with this one!
Magnetic Pro Rower: It get’s the job done. I wanted to save up for a Concept 2 ($1,599) but 4th of July day deal was in full swing so I grabbed the Yosuda for $400 (approximately). After one workout I’d say it’s earned its keep. I was following along a training video and working up a sweat at a relatively low resistance level. It runs smooth and sound is acceptable. It’s not loud and it’s not creaking or clanking anywhere. Once you’re in the flow you can kind of imagine the sound like rushing water on each drive/stroke movement.Cons: while there is a digital data screen, this really is a no frills rower. No Bluetooth. No LCD. It’s just you and the machine. For a beginner, I think it’s perfect! The Digital data screen will count strokes, distance, time, RPM and power. It has an iPad/phone holder which is great for watching videos about rowing while using the rower or Shogun or whatever.Having been been toying with the idea of buying a rower for over a year, I’d say this one was a great choice to start with and get me moving towards my goals instead of just thinking about them.

Talk about a surprise when I bought this and I was trying to use the free ride on the app it recommends. But I see the Peloton app ask if I wanted to connect my rower. My eyes widened and I couldn’t connect fast enough…it worked (bc of the ftms bluetooth). Wow game changer!!!! I like connecting to Peloton and doing their classes while at the same time seeing my matrix up on the screen (I cast my phone to the tv but it works on the phone or laptop/ipad too on the rowers screen platform). My husband prefers using the rowers free ride app option and watches a TV show at the same time. So it works for everyone! For reference….I’m 5’2″ and my husband is 6’2″ with our teen boys still growing but almost as tall as their dad. It fits the whole family with however we choose to use it. We couldn’t be happier!!!!

Overall, been using it now for almost 6 months. Doing peloton row bootcamps via the app. Fairly happy with it overall,. I’m 5’10 and not a newbie to working out. Biggest gripe is the pedals, the weird pivoting thing doesn’t allow a firm foot plant and push off. Finally ended up making my own, buying some concept 2 replacement foot straps and pedals, And then blocks of wood. With the original pedals, my arms/handle would hit the catch before I fully recoiled. However, with my modified pedals, I was able to get more distance. So better pedals and better positioning/mechanics. I can fully extend my legs at 5’10 (31” inseam) and no issues.

Solid Rower!
Update: I heard back from customer service, and they sent me a replacement part. The email address/contact info that was provided with the product seemed to be replaced. Once I found the updated email, services was quick and of good quality. Suggest they update the info sheet they put with the product to avoid confusion.I will start by saying that this rower seems to be a decent rower, however, I am not an expert. The main issue I have is that the product they sent me had a defect on the rear base piece. The welding at the seam in the picture was only half done and pulls away from the base. This is a safety hazard, and I have reached out to the company 3 times with no response over a month period. This is very frustrating as we have used it, but it could break at any time and hurt somebody.I would probably rate this rower as a 3.5-4 if they’d replace the part. The pull is smooth, haven’t seen any leaks in the water tank, and the materials are decent quality (other than the defect). I wish the foot holds were stationary vs swiveling. If I get really deep into the row, the seat hits the rubber stoppers (pictured) on the bottom of the slide rail and gets stuck. It’s an unsettling feeling when you think you are going to be sliding back and it snags on you.I use this with the Peloton Row workouts on the app. Good way to test rowing at a WAY cheaper price than the Peloton Row.Product is decent to solid and is a decent starter rowing machine to try.

Update:After about 7 weeks of use, the water rower is still functioning well. I’m 6’3″, and the rower’s track was juuust long enough for me. My dad is 6’4″, and complained that it was a little too short, so I made the modification shown in my picture, which added about another 1.5″ of length to the track. I’m not advising doing this, as it compromises the integrity of the rower’s design a bit (and is the reason I added the support bolts shown), but it’s worked very well for us. I also added a book reading light to illuminate the electronic display (shown in my other pic), since it was too dark to see for my dad. I don’t know why they didn’t add an LED to the display for the negligible extra cost it would have presented, but oh well.______________________________________________________________________________________________I have owned/used the Stamina X air rower for several years, and wanted to get a rower for my dad, so I looked into water rowers again, which have come down in price significantly from when I shopped for my rower years ago.I have put in several pretty vigorous hours on this Yosuda water rower, and have been impressed by the solid, smooth feel. It is definitely superior to my old air rower. 2 potentially helpful hints….1. The assembly video for attaching the rear support stand to the rails shows the 4 bolts being installed backwards. The nuts should be attached to the inside of the rails, not outside, or else the seat will not travel back all the way to the bumper/limiter (don’t ask me how I found this out), since the nuts will be in the way.2. For those complaining that the bluetooth does not function for usage with the apps – try pulling the rower a stroke or two before attempting a connection with your phone app. Just turning on the electronic display alone does not seem to activate the bluetooth on my unit.

I have enjoyed this product so far. I was initially bothered by the cut in the slide bar that was present on unboxing. The shipping package itself was intact, so I presume the damage was done before shipping. Otherwise the product is as described. Assembly was easy enough, although the instructions could have been clearer. After using the product for several sessions, I’m happy overall with the purchase.

Smooth performance. Sets up.in about an hour. Straps/stirrups and seat are comfy. Resistance scales up as you fill the tank. Great lee impact workout. Meds about 7×2′ to iterate and stowes standing up as shown. Great screen interface. App is optional but not at all necessary.

It’s smaller than pictured but I’m glad, fits in space perfectly! Does just what we need! We’ve only been using for a week but so far great buy for money!
